The Gold Coast region of Queensland covers some 1400km of the state and is home to over 500,000 people. To the city's east is a coastline stretched by sandy beaches meeting the beautiful waters of the South Pacific ocean, its westerly border is lined with magnificent mountain ranges featuring sub-tropical rainforests and to the south you'll find New South Wales and the Northern Rivers region.

Attractions

The Gold Coast's greatest attractions are its natural ones including 40km of golden sandy beaches, Eco tourism throughout the Hinterland and National Parks, onshore and offshore fishing, diving and sailing. There are also two wildlife parks located at Currumbin and Burleigh. The Hinterland is also popular for its winegrowing and vineyard industry.
Adventure attractions include motor bike tours, parasailing, sky diving, hot air ballooning, jet skiing, power boating, helicopter tours, go karting and motor racing.
Four theme parks provide hours and hours if not days of entertainment value with something for everyone. The four theme parks are Movie World, Wet 'n' Wild, Sea World and Dreamworld located between Southport and Coomera.
Nightlife:
The Gold Coast is popular for its famous nightclubs located on Cavill Avenue and Orchid Avenue where you can party into the early hours. There are also a range of nightlife options located in Broadbeach as well as a large casino and convention centre featuring regular events and shows.
Food & Wine:
Main Beach and Broadbeach are popular for their main streets lined with quality restaurants which serve for all tastes in ambient relaxing surroundings. The Hinterland region is also a popular wine growing region and with its scenic views, cellar door sales and fine restaurants it is a popular destination.
Climate
The Gold Coast has a comfortable sub-tropical climate averaging in the 20's.
Summer - December to February - 20-28 degrees C.
Autumn - March - May - 15-25 degrees C.
Winter - June - August - 11-21 degrees C.
Spring - September to November - 15-25 degrees C.
Accommodation:
In the Gold Coast region there are over 13,000 rooms available from Coolangatta through to Hope Island including Motels, Guest Houses, Apartments and Hotels. Apartment style accommodation within resort style settings is possibly the most common to be found and most resorts are providing great features and value in fantastic locations. Peak times are within the school holiday periods and during some major events where prices would be at their highest. Due to the volume of accommodation houses in the region discount offers and value is easy to find during off-peak periods.
Transport:
You can fly to either Gold Coast Airport (at Coolangatta) which is 30-40mins from Surfers Paradise via road, or Brisbane Airport which 50-60mins from Surfers Paradise via road and about 90mins via train. Airport transfers are best pre-booked via taxi, shuttle bus or limousine service. Throughout the city and suburbs public transport buses run on a regular time table.
