Copyright violations.
In case of copyright violations we advise the copyright owners to take the following steps:
- Contact the offending party and ask them to remove the copied material. Be polite but stern, telling them you will pursue legal means if the breach of your copyright is not addressed within 48 hours.
- If there is no response, contact the domain registrar and/or the hosting service of the offending website, and inform them of the breach.
Most domain registrars and hosting services will warn the offending party and sometimes suspend their services.
- You can also contact a copyright lawyer and ask for legal advice on possible action. Most of the time you will get a better response from the offending party, registrar or host if a copyright lawyer makes the requests above on your behalf.
